අර්බුදයේ අන්දරය, නූතන ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ප්‍රධාන සිදුවීම් ඡායාරූප හා විස්තර සටහන් සමඟ ඉදිරිපත් කරන, තිරස් ආකෘතියෙන් මුද්‍රිත ඡායාරූප ඉතිහාසයකි. 2006 අගෝස්තුවේ පළ වූ මුල් සංස්කරණයට 1815 දී බ්‍රිතාන්‍යයන් කන්ද උඩරට අල්ලා ගැනීමේ සිට 1993 ජනාධිපති රණසිංහ ප්‍රේමදාස ඝාතනය දක්වා කාලපරිච්ඡේදය ඇතුළත් විය. 2010 අගෝස්තුවේ පළ වූ නව සංස්කරණය 2009 ඊලාම් යුද්ධයේ අවසානය දක්වා දීර්ඝ කෙරිණි.
ජාතික ලේඛනාරක්ෂක දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව, රාජකීය පොදුරාජ්‍ය මණ්ඩලීය සංගමය, ලේක්හවුස් හා ටයිම්ස් ඔෆ් සිලෝන් එකතු, රාවය එකතුව හා වික්ටර් අයිවන්ගේ පෞද්ගලික එකතුව ඇතුළු මූලාශ්‍ර රැසකින් ඡායාරූප ලබාගෙන ඇත. 2008 දී අධ්‍යාපන ප්‍රකාශන උපදේශක මණ්ඩලය විසින් මුල් සංස්කරණය පාසල් පුස්තකාල පොතක් ලෙස අනුමත කරන ලදී.
අර්බුදයේ අන්දරය is a pictorial history of modern Sri Lanka, printed in a wide landscape format. It sets the main events of two centuries beside photographs, each with a detailed note.
The first edition, published in August 2006, ran from the British capture of the Kandyan provinces in 1815 to the assassination of President Ranasinghe Premadasa in 1993. For the second edition in August 2010, Victor Ivan extended it to the end of the Eelam war in 2009.
The photographs come from a wide range of collections. They include the Sri Lanka National Archives, the Royal Commonwealth Society, the colonial studios of Joseph Lawton, Charles Scowen, W.L.H. Skeen and Bourne and Shepherd, the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon and the Times of Ceylon, the LSSP and the Jayewardene Centre, Indian magazines such as Frontline and India Today, and Ravaya’s archive and Victor Ivan’s own collection.
In 2008 the Ministry of Education’s Educational Publications Advisory Board approved the first edition as a book for school libraries.
